Maria Lourdes is a self taught painter. She explored her inclination for paints and brushes under the tutelage of the eminent art scholar, book author, and art historian and critic Rodolfo Paras Perez at the former Asian Institute for the Arts taking Art Management. She visited the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts and completed her project. Her final Project was to write her book about the arts and children.
Her artistic experience flourished under Katherine Carpenters and Mary Joan Fajardo, Founders of Steiner education in the Philippines. In 2014, She attended Art Classes given by Hungarian painter Döbröntei, Zoltán in Hungary. In 2014, She Published her first book " Arts and the Creation stories " a book that encourages the use of creative arts as an insightful method to teach and to develop children. Her writing style and content was awarded the 2015 prestigious Best Book Award for the Youth and Child given by the Cardinal Sin Catholic Books Awards recognized by The Asian Catholic Communicators, Inc. in collaboration with the Catholic Mass Media Awards.
